Millions of people around the world seek counselling for a whole range of issues. A type of talking therapy, counselling involves sharing what is troubling you in a comfortable, safe and supportive environment, with a trained professional. Being able to express themselves freely and open up to a supportive ear, allows clients to overcome a wide range of issues, from grief and relationship problems, to other major life changes and significant transitions. Counselling aims to tackle the feelings that clients are experiencing right now, by helping clients focus on behaviour patterns and understand how their actions and choices are having an impact on the way they feel.
For example, the issues that counselling tends to deal with include the challenges clients face on a daily basis at home or work, as well as traumatic life events such as a breakup, bereavement or divorce. Many counselling strategies have also been proven to help with confidence issues and long-term addictions.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and therapist and I provide a confidential, warm and safe environment where you will be listened to deeply. You will be helped to make sense of your feelings and to improve your sense of wellbeing and confidence and learn useful tools and coping mechanisms which you can use to manage your life more positively.
I offer Face to face, online & telephone and ‘Walk and Talk’ counselling sessions taking place outdoors, where the soothing effect of nature combined with the light exercise of walking at a gentle pace helps to reduce anxiety and clears a space to chat.
Face to face Counselling:
I offer face to face counselling sessions on a one-to-one basis or with couples, families or parent and child. I work from a relaxing therapy room and aim to provide the most professional and calming therapeutic environment possible.
Online & Telephone Counselling:
Both myself and my clients have become aware of how effective online and telephone counselling has been, and it has enabled clients to access counselling in a place that feels safe and convenient to them. Online and telephone counselling is just as effective as in-person and there are many additional advantages to accessing support in this way. I offer online video sessions via Microsoft Teams or Zoom where you can receive the same quality of counselling from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a laptop, pc, tablet or mobile phone, an internet connection, and a quiet space. Benefits of online and telephone counselling:
– You are not restricted by location – you can choose the right counsellor for you, rather than having to base your choice on them being geographically closest to you.
– Counsellors who work online are often able to offer more flexibility in appointment times.
– Accessing counselling from your own home means you can be comfortable in your own surrounds with no need to travel to a counsellor’s premises.
– Physical disabilities or psychological difficulties are no barrier to you in getting the support you need.
– You may feel safer to talk and more at ease, when in your own home.
Walk and talk therapy:
‘Walk and Talk Therapy’ is a growing practice taking place outdoors, walking side by side, often walking in parks, woodlands or urban environments.
I can offer outdoors counselling for an hour or for longer sessions by negotiation and weather depending. The counselling can consist either of simply walking and talking or you may decide to sit in a particular spot for the entire session or vary our route a little from session to session.
– Offers relaxation
– Physical health can be improved
– Can help to reduce isolation
– Offers a safer face to face alternative in a post COVID world
